Teachers1on1 uses the following Third Party service providers:
Teachers1on1 recognizes the need to provide additional privacy protections with respect to the personal information we may collect from children pursuant to the United States’ Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 ("COPPA"). This privacy notice supplements our Privacy Policy and provides additional information about how we collect, use and share personal information from children under the age of 13 (a "Child"), and Users under the age of 18 (a "Teen"). Both a Child and a Teen will be subject to this privacy notice, and are collectively to be referred to as "Children" or as "Students". A Parent User may be provided the opportunity to create a sub-account for a Child or Teen of whom they are the parent or legal guardian, directly linked to the Parent User’s Account (a "Sub-Account"). Teachers1on1 will always seek full verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian ("Parent User") for all Children accessing the Platform and certain other Services via a Sub-Account (a "Child User" or a "Teen User"). The same provisions apply to both Child Users and Teen Users, and they are to be collectively referred to as Student Users.
Teachers1on1 does not knowingly permit Children to purchase or subscribe to any Services, including the creation of a Sub-Account. The Sub-Account creation feature for our Services is intended strictly for a Parent User, and we take measures to make this apparent in order to prevent children from submitting personal information for our Services in this manner.
A Student User may be granted access to their Sub-Account in three ways: 1) the Parent User may select the Student User from the Parent User’s dashboard, and choose "Log in as Student" to switch to the student dashboard, 2) the Parent User may select a Student User’s lesson from the Parent Dashboard and choose "Log in as Student" to switch to the student dashboard, or 3) the Parent User may choose to add an email address to the Student User’s Sub-Account. If a Parent User chooses to grant access by way of option 3, the Student User will be emailed a link to access lessons and their dashboard ("Magic Link") at the email address provided by the Parent. The Magic Link will only be accessible by the registered Student User for a limited duration, and will expire once the lesson has concluded.
When a Student User is registered for a Sub-Account, we will obtain parental consent through the use of a credit card, debit card, or other online payment system that provides notification of each discrete transaction to the Parent User, or through verbal means directly with the Parent User. Teachers1on1 does not ask any Student User for any more information than is necessary to provide the Service to the Student User or to seek Parent User consent. If Teachers1on1 learns that personal information of a Student User has been collected from use of our Services without Parent User consent, Teachers1on1 will take appropriate steps to delete this information. If you are a parent or legal guardian and discover that your Child or Teen has created an account without consent, please contact support@teachers1on1.com and request that we delete that Child’s or Teen’s personal information from our systems.
We collect a first name, date of birth, and grade-level when a Parent User creates a Sub-Account for a Student User to access our Services, as well as any other personal information a Parent User may voluntarily add to a Student User’s profile, which consists of a biography or a profile picture. We may also collect the email address of the Student User if a Parent User provides such information during the creation of the Student User’s Sub-Account.
We collect information about the Student User’s use of the Service and any Content of their creation uploaded or displayed on the Platform, including works posted on message boards and whiteboards. We will further collect a Student’s usage and device information, as described below. Lastly, Teachers1on1 may collect audiovisual recordings of Student Users accessing the Platform and certain other Services. The recordings may contain a Student’s voice and image, messages, Q&A, or other content (such as a presentation or whiteboard) shared by a Student during a meeting or webinar. Teachers1on1 may store the recordings for up to two (2) years. Teachers1on1 employees do not access this content unless the Parent User directs us to do so, for training purposes, to make assessments, including through the use of machine learning algorithms, as to the efficacy of the tutoring or of the tutor, or as required for legal, security, or safety reasons.
When a Student User visits their dashboard, we automatically collect the following information: IP address, information about the Student User’s browser and device, which parts of the Student Sub-Account they visit, and the time they spend on the platform.
Student Sub-Accounts have limited information sharing capabilities. Students’ first name, grade level, and progress information, along with any personal information the Parent User added to the Student’s profile, may be shared with a Teacher with whom the Parent User requests a lesson. Teachers will not be able to communicate directly with a Student User outside of the lesson, and any non-lesson communication can only occur through the Parent Account. When using our Services via a Student Sub-Account, a Student User will only be able to access their lesson history, current and future scheduled lessons and their replays, and our customer service department. A Student User could post personally identifiable information in free-form content on the Service, such as any Content generated through use of the whiteboard; Parent Users should monitor the Child User’s posts and delete personal information if needed. Teachers1on1 may also disclose personal information of Student Users for business purposes, as described in the general Privacy Policy. We do not disclose personal information of Student Users for direct marketing purposes or for targeted advertising purposes. In addition, we take steps to disable third party ad networks on webpages with child-directed content or when a Student User logs into a Sub-Account on the Service.
Parent Accounts have the ability to access and control information a Student User provides via the Sub-Account. If you are a Parent User, you may request to review the personal information collected from your Student. You may also revoke your consent and refuse the further use or collection of personal information of your Student. To revoke consent and refuse the future collection or use of a Student’s personal information, a Parent User can delete the Student User’s Sub-Account. To request to review the personal information collected from a Student or to request the deletion of a Student User’s personal information and/or Sub-Account, a Parent User must contact our customer service department at support@teachers1on1.com and submit a formal request.
If you or your student have further questions about the collection and use of Student’s data please contact us at support@teachers1on1.com.
